Who we are
Zohra Foundation is a UK registered healthcare charity for the aged and infirm in Pakistan. The elderly people we support often live alone or on very limited means. They struggle with chronic, age related diseases.
What we do
At Zohra Foundation, we provide free healthcare, social support and often food aid to the vulnerable, elderly poor in Pakistan. We work with a network of paid specialists, volunteer doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals. We operate across Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad.
The Challenges we face
An ageing population is a global reality. Thanks to advances in medicine and healthcare, we are living longer. In developing countries like Pakistan, the adult life expectancy will have risen to 72 years by 2023. This is good news. However, a maturing population presents new challenges for the world’s poor.
Vulnerability in old age is a reality that faces us all. Those who are fortunate will have the social support, medical assistance and financial security to see them through this difficult stage of life. For the underprivileged however, old age is the winter of a life of hardship.
If a young man shows respect to an old man on account of his old age, Allah will create for him at his old age someone who will show him respect too.
